Client Overview
Client is a regional healthcare provider with a network of hospitals, clinics, outpatient centers, and radiology centers. The organization employs than 30,000 employees and is engrained in the local communities that it serves.
Situation
With the extent of change occurring and heightened level of competition in the U.S. Healthcare market, the Client made the decision to disrupt itself from within. To accomplish this, it created a Transformation Officer role and supporting Office that would re-cast the organization’s long-term strategy, how it would invest, and what constituted success. This group had the authority to re-allocate organizational resources from traditional lines of business to transformational, speculative investments.
Our Engagement
Aberdeen was engaged to work closely with the newly-appointed leadership team on defining the strategy and framing up the operating model. The team focused on three main areas to support the client’s objectives:
Defining the upfront mission, strategy and operating model to begin the Office’s efforts
Designing a framework that balances and prioritizes business viability, customer desirability, and operational feasibility of in-flight initiatives or newly-proposed investments
Pressure-testing investments (partnerships, transformational initiatives, business models) using the framework and guiding teams in their effort to create business cases, validate the ‘voice of the customer’, and assess operational capabilities
