Client Overview
Client is a regional healthcare provider with a network of hospitals, clinics, outpatient centers, and radiology centers. The organization employs more than 30,000 employees and is engrained in the local communities that it serves.
Situation
As the client merged with a healthcare provider in a different state, they ended up with two separate instances of Epic, each with its own workflows, patients' records, and ancillary systems. This made it challenging to collaborate and engage effectively across both healthcare systems, resulting in increased costs for running two instances of Epic. Moreover, it hindered the healthcare provider's ability to provide optimal care to their patients and user experience for their providers.
The Solution
Unify the clinical technologies used by the enterprise by merging both instances of Epic into a single system, ensuring a smooth transition to the new platform
Build the integration strategy and execution plan together with the client and system integrators plus Epic
Business Benefits and Outcomes
One Patient – One record across both healthcare systems
Increased collaboration and engagement which allowed for better patient care
Migration to one platform allowed the healthcare system to also reduce the number of third-party ancillary applications
Bridged the gap across workflows from both instances of Epic
Better education and training for all support teams
Operating as one organization with the consolidation
Reduction of Technology costs by 20%
