Client Overview
The investment office of a prominent PE fund was considering making a large capital investment in a domestic equipment rental and services company that not only had great operational metrics but also had grown despite limited focus on marketing and technology
Situation
The client needed a comprehensive IT due diligence performed as part of their potential investment process to confirm that the business’ technology environment was healthy and void of risks. This assessment also entailed performing a codebase quality and scalability review of a proprietary custom application core to the deal; additionally, an estimate and roadmap were provided for application modernization
Our Engagement

Full assessment of target’s core technology aspects for due diligence to identify risks:
Reviewed the core technology platform through a people, process, technology, and data lens
Evaluate the data quality and quantity, platform, security and privacy feathers, scalability, and future proof design
Assess product’s UI/UX, system architecture, and scalability for commercialization
Provided an executable quote to modernize and maintain the custom application should the fund decide to commercialize the product
Defined short- / mid- / long-term investment opportunities
Opportunities to address identified risks around people, process, and technology including targeted offshore human capital investments
Recommendations on pre-launch and post-launch initiatives to mitigate risks and to allow for scaling with client’s growth targets
